The Reni District Court found the director of Zhnyva Ukrainy XXIII LLC guilty of illegal extraction of mineral resources and money laundering. Viktor Gnezdilov was sentenced to three years and one month in prison but was released from serving his sentence and placed on one year of probation.
This is evidenced by the verdict in the Unified State Register of Court Cases.
The convicted man sold illegally extracted loam to the customer,Rostdorstroy LLC, for use in major repairs to the Odesa-Reni highway. He ordered his subordinates to extract the material without a special permit on land plots within the Reni municipal community.
As a result, the company extracted and sold 4,500 cubic meters of mineral resources. This caused losses to the state totaling 3,248,624 hryvnias; the value of the extracted loam amounts to 649,724 hryvnias.
Previously, Rostdorstroy LLC had been awarded five contracts totaling 1.39 billion hryvnias for road construction in the Odesa region. According to the YouControl analytical system, “Rostdorstroy”is owned by Yuriy Schumacher, a member of the Odesa City Council, and businessman Yevgeny Konovalov. The article also notes that both companies have been implicated in criminal proceedings; however, these do not constitute court convictions and do not indicate that guilt has been proven.
