The deputy head of the occupation administration in Nova Kakhovka was sentenced to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property. He was also barred from holding positions in state authorities, public administration, and local self-government, as well as positions related to the provision of administrative services.

This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office

The prosecutor proved that the defendant, presumably Maksym Novak, voluntarily assumed the position of deputy head of the city district administration of Nova Kakhovka, Kherson Oblast, no later than February 2024. In this role, he coordinated the activities of the occupation administration in the social sphere, headed the commission on juvenile affairs and the protection of minors’ rights, organized its meetings, and ensured the implementation of the aggressor state’s legislation.

The investigation also established that the defendant represented the occupation administration during official events, underwent training at a Russian academy of public administration, and participated in propaganda activities.

A former tax inspector from Kherson was also found guilty of collaboration. During the occupation of the city, she voluntarily began working for the illegally established Russian “tax service.” The woman was also convicted in absentia, as she is in hiding in the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region.

A 38-year-old local resident who held a leadership position in the Russian occupation Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Kherson region in August 2022 will also stand trial. The investigation established that the defendant became the head of the legal analysis and judicial affairs division within the judicial affairs department. While in this position, he provided legal support to the illegal authority and represented its interests in courts and other bodies operating under Russian law.
