In Kherson, the SBI served a notice of suspicion to a local resident. During the occupation of the city, he voluntarily cooperated with the enemy and guarded military cargo.
This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation.
Law enforcement officers served a notice of suspicion to a resident of Kherson who voluntarily cooperated with the Russian invaders and guarded military cargo during the temporary occupation of the city.
According to the investigation, after the seizure of Kherson in March 2022, the occupiers organized an illegal security unit, the Kherson Paramilitary Security Detachment, which operated under the fake Kherson Railway company. Its task was to protect strategic railway facilities through which Russians supplied weapons and ammunition to the city.
The investigation established that the suspect had deliberately joined the group. In June 2022, he became the chief of the guard, and later worked as a rifleman, directly responsible for the protection of facilities involved in the transportation of military cargo of the occupiers. In addition, the man openly supported pro-Russian views and planned to obtain a Russian passport, linking his future with the aggressor state.
After the liberation of Kherson, the suspect decided to stay in the city, hoping to avoid responsibility. However, law enforcement officers established his involvement in illegal activities and served him a notice of suspicion under Part 7 of Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - voluntary holding a position in an illegal law enforcement agency. The man faces up to 15 years in prison for the crime.
Also in January, the Security Service of Ukraine announced a new suspicion against pro-Russian blogger Dmytro Taran from Kakhovka. Investigators believe that he worked as a mouthpiece for Kremlin propaganda, hiding behind the fictitious status of an "intelligence officer."
According to the investigation, he systematically spread pro-Russian narratives through his own YouTube channel. In his videos, he claimed that Ukraine was "an integral part of Russia" and presented Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine as an alleged "liberation mission" and "a proxy war with NATO and the collective West."
