Police officers drew up reports of administrative offenses against two teenagers from Odesa who posted a video of one of them raping a friend's cat on the Internet.
This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa Oblast.
The video caused a resonance among animal rights activists, given that the cat has now died.
In particular, the organization UAnimals appealed to the police with a demand to launch a criminal investigation. So, the police tracked down the teenage authors of the video and found out that the incident took place early last year at the home of a younger boy. According to him, he was filming the process of imitating the rape of his cat by his friend for entertainment purposes. The second teenager also explained that it was staged for entertainment.
The parents of the younger boy told law enforcement officers that their cat had a heart condition, was treated at a veterinary facility and died of old age almost a year later, and was cremated after the death. The family provided the police with veterinary documentation for examination.
Since both boys have already reached the age of administrative responsibility, police drew up reports of administrative offenses against them over cruelty to animals. The sanction for these offenses is a fine or administrative arrest.
In the summer of 2025, police in one of the villages of Odesa region detained a man suspected of sexual abuse of dogs and child molestation. At that time, the detainee's actions were classified as committing violent acts against an animal for the gratification of sexual passion and gross violation of public order, accompanied by exceptional cynicism.
