In the temporarily occupied Crimea, Russian soldiers returning from the war against Ukraine are selling generators, chainsaws and other goods that may be looted or received as volunteer aid.
This was reported by the Holos Kryma media outlet with reference to a local activist.
According to the source, in the spring of 2026, the number of such "sellers" in Crimea increased significantly. We are talking about the Russian military, who participated in the so-called "SVO".
The activist said that the military travels through the streets of settlements and offers locals generators, chainsaws, and other household equipment. They sell the goods much cheaper than the market price and are often ready to give them away without bargaining.
"These 'salesmen' drive down the street and say right from the car that they are from the 'Svoboda' and ask if they need a generator or a chainsaw ," Holos Kryma quoted the activist as saying.
According to him, it is likely that they are talking about property looted in the occupied territories or goods that the Russian military received as volunteer aid.
The activist also suggested that the military chose Crimea for such a "business" because of its proximity to the front and the higher solvency of local residents compared to the newly occupied territories.
In the temporarily occupied Crimea, the Russian authorities are massively confiscating land and houses from people who have legally registered their plots. For example, in the village of Uyutne, Saksky district, the houses of at least 80 families are under the threat of demolition. Thus, the occupation authorities are canceling even the rights that they themselves have granted, leaving people homeless and without compensation.
