The man who was beaten by soldiers of the territorial center for recruitment and social support on January 19 refused to use a lawyer and said he had no claims against the military.
This was stated by the detainee's former lawyer , Oleksandr Chernienko.
He noted that the man also refused to undergo a forensic medical examination. At the same time, the lawyer said that the man looked unwell.
"In my opinion, the client's health condition was not satisfactory because he limped on one leg and there was only fear in his eyes," the lawyer said.
The lawyer also stated that no officer of the National Police of Ukraine and the district center for recruitment and social support who participated in the detention was detained and will not be brought to criminal responsibility.
Earlier, Oleksandr Chernienko said that criminal proceedings over the incident were registered with the qualification of "intentional light bodily harm".
On January 20, the Odesa Regional Territorial Center for Manning and Social Support responded to a video recording showing members of the alert group beating a man who had just been pulled out of a car.
Before putting the man in the TCC car, one of the members of the alert group struck him several times in the torso while two others held his arms. At the same time, police officers present at the scene advised the injured man to call the police.
The incident took place on January 19 on Sofiyivska Street in the center of Odesa. The regional TCC stated that the military beat the man solely to stop the illegal actions and to ensure the possibility of processing administrative materials.
