Law enforcement officers completed an investigation into a citizen who promised a conscript a fake disability certificate for money to be deregistered from the military register. In addition to forging documents, the suspect provided consultations on illegal border crossing. The indictment was submitted to court. The offender faces imprisonment for up to five years.

This was reported by the Police of Mykolaiv region.

In October last year, investigators of the Mykolaiv District Police Department, with the operational support of the Regional Department of Strategic Investigations of the State Security Service of Ukraine and under the supervision of the Mykolaiv District Prosecutor's Office, stopped the illegal activities of a 45-year-old man.

In the course of the pre-trial investigation, law enforcement officers found that the offender offered his acquaintances assistance in evading the draft. He assured them that he could solve the issue of obtaining a fictitious disability group by using his influence on officials of medical institutions. In addition, the offender provided recommendations on safe ways to illegally leave the country during martial law. The offender estimated his corruption services at USD 8,200.

The police detained the man in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine immediately after receiving the first cash tranche of USD 4,200. At the same time, in coordination with the prosecutor's office, he was notified of suspicion of committing crimes under Part 1 of Art. 332 (illegal transportation of persons across the state border by providing advice and instructions) and Part 2 of Art. 369-2 (abuse of influence through obtaining undue advantage) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court imposed on the accused custody as a measure of restraint with a possibility of release on bail.

As of today, investigators of the Mykolaiv Department have completed all the necessary procedural steps. The indictment was forwarded to the Mykolaiv District Prosecutor's Office, where it was approved and sent to court for consideration on the merits. Now, the court will determine the man's fate; the sanctions of the articles charged against him provide for up to five years in prison.
