A resident of the Mykolaiv region found himself in the dock after treating a state-owned forest in the Bashtanka district as his own field and causing damages totaling more than 226,000 hryvnias
According to the press service of the prosecutor’s office, the indictment against him has already been forwarded to the court.
The defendant is a resident of the Berezneguvatka territorial community. He is accused of unlawfully occupying a land plot, which caused significant damage to its rightful owner (Part 1 of Article 197-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The indictment was sent to court under the procedural supervision of the Bashtanka District Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the investigation, from October 2025 to August 2026, the man used a plot of land designated for forestry purposes. Its area is over 2.2 hectares.
The land belongs to the state. The owner is the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration. It is under the permanent use of the state-owned specialized economic enterprise “Forests of Ukraine.”
He cultivated the land using agricultural machinery, sowed seeds, and grew crops. According to the investigation, this caused the state to suffer losses of over 226,000 hryvnias.
Along with the indictment, the prosecutor filed a civil claim with the court for the same amount—over 226,000 hryvnias. In this way, the prosecutor’s office seeks to recover the losses for the state.
