Law enforcement officers exposed two residents of Kherson who collected data on the Ukrainian military and passed it on to the FSB. Now one of the suspects faces life imprisonment, and the court has seized his share of the land plot.

This was reported by Intent with reference to the decision of the Central District Court of Mykolaiv.

According to the case file, in the fall of 2025, a resident of Kherson established contact with a representative of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation via Telegram. Investigators believe that the man agreed to cooperate in exchange for a monetary reward and began to fulfill the tasks of Russian curators.

Later, the agent was instructed to collect information about the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, their locations, the number of soldiers, the location of equipment and routes of its movement. In addition, he was allegedly instructed to look for other individuals to cooperate with Russian special services.

Later, another resident of Kherson joined this activity. The investigation believes that the men acted together and regularly transmitted the information they collected to FSB representatives via messenger.

Among the episodes investigated by law enforcement officers is the transfer of the coordinates of the location of personnel of one of the military units in Kherson, as well as data on the launch positions of drones of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the investigation, this information could have been used to prepare attacks on the Ukrainian military.

In addition, the suspects systematically monitored military facilities and units of the Defense Forces, recorded their movements, and passed this data to the Russian side. Separately, the case involves the collection of information about places of mass stay of civilians in Kherson.

It also turned out that the men were spying on police officers and law enforcement vehicles. The curators were allegedly informed about the locations of police units, their routes and the vehicles they used. The transmitted information was not publicly available and could be used to adjust shelling, select targets for strikes, or conduct reconnaissance and sabotage activities on the territory of Ukraine.

In January 2026, one of the men was notified of suspicion of high treason committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy under martial law. If proven guilty, he faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

To secure the possible confiscation, the court arrested 1/16th of the 30.6-hectare land plot. The pre-trial investigation is currently ongoing.

In May, the court sent a Kherson gunman to prison for life. During the hearing, the man pleaded not guilty. He stated that he worked as a food deliveryman and music decorator in a restaurant during the occupation of Kherson, and also claimed that he did not pass information about the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to the Russians.
