Judicial control over former Odesa mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov has not been weakened, but the rules for him have been partially rewritten. Some restrictions have disappeared, but the key safeguards remain - and will be in effect for at least another month and a half.

This was reported by the press service of the High Anti-Corruption Court.

The panel of judges partially granted the petition of the prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office and extended the term of procedural duties imposed on the former mayor of Odesa , Hennadiy Trukhanov.

According to the court's press service, the list of restrictions was also amended. In particular, three people were excluded from the list of witnesses with whom the accused is prohibited from communicating. This decision was made because the prosecution does not plan to interrogate them in court, and the defense also did not declare its intention to involve these individuals as witnesses.

The term of procedural obligations was extended until June 3, 2026 inclusive. According to the court order, the defendant is obliged to appear in court at every request, not to leave Odesa and Odesa region without permission, to report any change of residence and to refrain from contacting the designated witnesses.

In addition, he has to hand over his travel documents and wear an electronic monitoring device.

In January, the former mayor of Odesa was released from round-the-clock house arrest. His preventive measure was changed to a personal commitment and his electronic bracelet was removed.

In October last year, Trukhanov and his deputies were suspected of negligence in office, which caused the deaths of people during the September 30 floods. According to the investigation, the officials failed to provide a proper response to the disaster and allowed the large-scale consequences of the weather to occur.

The storm that hit Odesa on September 30 caused significant damage, flooding streets, causing power outages, damaging property and toppling hundreds of trees. About 300 private and 400 apartment buildings were damaged, and 10 people died.
