Former head of Mykolaiv MSEC Vera Belyakova makes a deal with the investigation

The former head of the regional center of medical and social expertise, Vira Belyakova, initiated the signing of a plea agreement in the criminal proceedings.
This was reported by the press service of the Central District Court.
During a court hearing in the Central District Court of Mykolaiv on February 18, the prosecutor of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office of the Southern Region , Mykhailo Lys, officially confirmed that the parties had reached an agreement on a plea agreement.
According to the public prosecutor, the initiative to conclude the agreement came directly from the defendant. The document has now been signed by the parties, but it still needs to be approved by the senior management of the prosecutor's office, as required by the Criminal Procedure Code. Due to the need to complete these procedural steps, Judge Vladimir Aleynikov granted the motion to postpone the trial until March.
The case of Vira Belyakova gained significant publicity after the searches in October 2024, when SBU officers seized more than $450,000, a large number of jewelry items and her son's Russian passport from the official. The investigation found that a significant part of the former head of the MSEC's assets, including real estate in Odesa, was registered in the names of relatives to conceal her real income. Belyakova's official declarations in recent years did not correspond to her actual standard of living and the amount of cash she had withdrawn.
As of today, she is charged under four articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The most serious of them relate to obstructing the legitimate activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during a special period, organizing forgery and intentionally entering false information in the declaration.
Law enforcement officers suspect that the seized funds were obtained through an established system of issuing fictitious disability groups to individuals who tried to avoid mobilization. Despite the initial detention, Belyakova is currently under round-the-clock house arrest, pending court approval of the terms of the plea agreement.
