Court remands Mykolaiv resident in custody for setting fire to military vehicle

A Mykolaiv court has ruled to keep in custody a local resident suspected of preparing an attempted terrorist attack. According to the investigation, the woman collaborated with Russian special services, receiving instructions via the Telegram messenger.
This is evidenced by the ruling of the Ochakiv City District Court of Mykolaiv Region.
The woman was tasked with organizing the arson or explosion of a vehicle belonging to a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the city of Ochakiv. She kept in touch with her handlers via a messenger, where she received detailed instructions on how to manufacture and install explosives.
The investigation established that the accused acted according to a clear plan: On August 27, 2025, she picked up a pre-prepared package of explosives at a specified location. To carry out the attack, the woman rented a hotel room, purchased a mobile terminal and connected it to a portable battery. This allowed her to control the improved explosive device remotely using a special mobile application. That same evening, she placed explosives under a Nissan car used by the commander of a military unit.
The planned explosion did not take place due to the operational work of the special services - on August 28, 2025, the woman was detained by the SBU. During the court hearing, the defense requested a mitigated measure of restraint, suggesting house arrest at the place of residence of the defendant's grandmother.
However, the court rejected this request, emphasizing the particular gravity of the crime and the high risk of fugitive from justice. The court upheld the prosecutor's request: the suspect will be held in custody for another 60 days, until April 25, 2026, without the right to be released on bail.
