A contract killing was foiled in Odesa. The woman was preparing to eliminate the commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, using GPS tracking to transmit data to the killer.

This was reported by the SBU Communication Department.

According to the investigation, the suspect is a native of Kirovohrad region who has been living in Russia for a long time. There, she turned to the office of Viktor Medvedchuk 's political project "Second Ukraine" in search of legal assistance in connection with criminal proceedings, but was instead handed over to FSB representatives. The enemy intelligence service offered her cooperation in exchange for solving her problems with the law and sent her to Odesa to organize an assassination attempt.

Arriving in the city, the woman rented a house in the building where the military man lived and bought a car to get to the underground parking lot unnoticed. There, she installed a GPS tracker under the hood of the military man's car, which she had received from her curators before leaving for Ukraine. Using the device, the Russian side planned to track the officer's movements and determine a convenient moment for an attack.

SBU officers exposed the agent immediately after she installed the device. She was detained when she was trying to leave the country, heading to the border with the intention of fleeing to Russia through third countries. During the search, they seized her phone, which she used to keep in touch with her curator, disguising it as a personal relationship.

The woman was notified of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law. The indictment has already been submitted to court, and she faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property. Law enforcement officers continue to identify all persons involved in the preparation of the crime.

Also in April, a special operation in Odesa resulted in the detention of a Russian agent who tried to assassinate a high-ranking officer of the Ukrainian Navy. On the day of the assassination attempt, the killer with a pistol and two loaded magazines took up a position near the exit of the residential complex where the Ukrainian officer lived.
