In Odesa, a 34-year-old local woman was notified that she is suspected of organizing a scheme to produce fake medical documents. The documents were used to facilitate men’s illegal travel abroad.

This was reported by the Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

The woman has been detained and remanded in custody, with the possibility of bail.

According to the investigation, the woman produced fake medical documents and arranged for disability status to be granted in exchange for $8,500. In one instance, after the second installment of $4,500 was paid, a man was granted a Group III disability status.

Under the law, citizens with a Category III disability are entitled to cross the state border during martial law without restrictions on the number of trips. To successfully cross the border, men of draft age must present an official disability ID or pension certificate, as well as a valid military registration document. Information regarding disability status and an approved deferment from mobilization must be recorded in the unified state registry “Oberig.”

Falsifying disability status is a criminal offense in Ukraine.

As reported by Intent, earlier, on September 21, a doctor and a nurse were taken into custody in Odesa for organizing a scheme to evade mobilization. For $3,000, the medical professionals issued fictitious documents to conscripts diagnosing them with depressive spectrum disorders so they could subsequently travel abroad.
