A man who carried out arson attacks in the Chernihiv and Odesa regions was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Among the Russian agent’s primary targets were energy infrastructure facilities and government buildings.
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.
A resident of the Chernihiv region, recruited by the Russians for a little extra cash, set fire to several transformers in the Odesa region. He filmed each fire on his phone to report back to his handler in Russia.
Later, the agent returned to northern Ukraine, where he was tasked with setting fire to an administrative building of one of the departments of the Koryukivka City Council. To do so, he smashed a window of the building with a brick and threw two “Molotov cocktails” inside.
Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine detained a resident of the Bilozerka community in the Kherson region who, according to the investigation, passed information about the Defense Forces to Russian intelligence agencies and helped prepare strikes on the frontline region.
After receiving her assignments, the suspect drove her own car through the area near the front lines. She identified the locations of Ukrainian military units and tracked the routes of Ukrainian Armed Forces military equipment as it moved toward the front line. The woman passed the gathered information to the Russian side in the form of coordinates for potential targets, which she marked on Google Maps.
