In Odesa, police detained a 45-year-old man suspected of selling fake disability certificates. He was taken into custody while receiving the first installment of a bribe totaling 9,000 dollars.
This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odesa region.
The issue of selecting a pretrial measure for the suspect is currently being decided.
The detainee is charged with receiving an unlawful benefit for himself by influencing the decision-making of a person authorized to perform state functions, combined with extortion of such a benefit. This crime is punishable by imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with confiscation of property.

According to law enforcement officials, the 45-year-old Odesa resident offered men of draft age assistance in establishing a fictitious disability classification. As investigators noted, this made it possible to subsequently obtain an exemption from military registration to avoid conscription into military service.
