A collaborator from the Kherson region was brought to trial for torturing a woman with electric shocks

A member of the occupying "police" in the Kherson region will stand trial for torturing a civilian woman. He faces up to 12 years in prison. 

This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

The investigation established that in the summer of 2022, the man held the position of the so-called acting commander of the military police platoon at the Novokakhovka City Police Station.

Together with servicemen from the Russian Armed Forces, he conducted a search of the home of a local resident of the Kakhovka community.When the woman entered the apartment, he struck her on the head, causing her to lose consciousness.

She was then taken to a seized building, where the man interrogated her, trying to find out about weapons and her ties to the Ukrainian military. When the woman refused to testify, he subjected her to electric shock. He first attached wires to her limbs and then to her chest, increasing the voltage until she lost consciousness.

Afterward, the woman was transferred to a seized building housing the occupying police station and was unlawfully detained there for nearly three months. She was held without adequate sleeping conditions, with limited access to water and food, and without hygiene supplies or medical care. She was released only in mid-September 2022. 

In June 2025, the defendant had already been sentenced to 15 years in prison for voluntarily assuming a position in an illegal law enforcement agency.

Also in September, the Kherson Prosecutor’s Office announced that the commander of the “Vyatich” special-purpose detachment of the Russian National Guard was suspected of torture . Together with other military personnel, he forced the deputy chair of one of the village councils to cooperate with the occupying authorities and head the illegally established occupation administration.
