Young man blows up prosecutor's car in Odesa

An 18-year-old native of Kherson, Serhiy Svyatiy-Kholodnyak, accused of blowing up cars at the park prosecutor's office, pleaded guilty to the charges in full.

This was reported by a Dumskaya correspondent from the courtroom of the Primorsky District Court.

According to the investigation, the young man entered into a correspondence with an unidentified curator in a messenger and agreed to commit a terrorist attack for three thousand dollars. He bought ammonium nitrate, acetone, electrolyte, a metal kettle, a cell phone and other materials. He assembled an improvised explosive device, stuffed it with metal nuts, and on February 20, 2025, planted it near a black Lexus on Seminarska Street. As a result of the explosion, the owner of the car, which was parked nearby, suffered a concussion and a minor injury. In total, four cars were damaged.

In court, Serhiy Svyatiy-Kholodnyak confirmed that he was aware of the consequences of his actions and agreed with the circumstances outlined by the prosecutor. The court decided to consider the case in a simplified manner in accordance with Article 349, Part 3 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

In addition, the court accepted for consideration four civil claims for damages: the owner of the Lexus demanded UAH 719 thousand, the owner of the Peugeot - UAH 373 thousand, the owner of the Hyundai - UAH 261 thousand, and Oleksandr Yushchuk estimated the damage to his car at UAH 49 thousand. The total damage amounted to over UAH 1.4 million. The next hearing is scheduled for November 24.

Earlier, a man who tried to commit sabotage on the railroad was convicted in Odesa. The court sentenced him to 7 years in prison with confiscation of property. The court found a 24-year-old native of Donetsk region guilty of attempting to commit sabotage at a Ukrzaliznytsia facility in Odesa for a reward. According to the investigation, the man acted on the instructions of an unidentified person allegedly connected with Russian special services.
