A panel of judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court partially granted the prosecutor's motion and changed the measure of restraint to former Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov in the case of participation in a criminal organization and illegal seizure of land of the Odesa territorial community.

This was reported by the SAPO press service.

Thus, the court increased the bail amount set for the accused from UAH 30 million to UAH 42 million, but denied the request to take the person into custody. As previously reported, the pre-trial investigation established that during 2016-2019, members of the criminal organization developed a scheme for the illegal transfer of land plots for their further development.

Thus, the land plots of the Odesa territorial community were leased out bypassing the competition exclusively to pre-agreed developers. The developers paid money or transferred property (apartments, non-residential premises) to the criminals, who, through their controlled persons in the Odesa City Council, ensured that the relevant decision to lease the said plots was made.

According to the results of the examination, the total amount of damage caused is UAH 689 million. In addition, the facts of legalization of funds received by the criminal organization from committing other criminal offenses were established. At the same time, the judges denied the motion to take the former mayor into custody.

In September, the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine granted the prosecutor's motion and allowed a special trial of businessman Volodymyr Halantynik, accused of organizing a corrupt organization in Odesa City Hall.

In December 2024, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office brought to court the case of a criminal organization that caused the Odesa community to lose UAH 689 million. The 11 defendants include the current mayor of Odesa, city council officials, and the head of an enterprise.

The NABU did not name the suspects, but Intent reported that it was Odesa businessman Volodymyr Halanternyk, who is hiding from the investigation abroad. Other defendants include Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov, his former deputies Oleh Bryndak and Petro Ryabokon, former city council member Vasyl Shkryabai, director of the legal department Inna Popovska, and founder of Budova Dmytro Dimarsky.
