Tortured by electric shock and starved: Russian security officer to be tried in Kherson region

The case of a Russian citizen, an employee of the occupation special service in Kherson region, who is accused of torturing a civilian, was brought to court. The man was beaten, kept without food and water, and interrogated with the use of electric shocks.
This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.
Law enforcement officers completed the pre-trial investigation and submitted an indictment to the court against a Russian citizen, an employee of the illegally created occupation "Kherson Oblast State Security Service". Investigators charged him with cruel treatment of civilians and violation of the laws and customs of war under Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, the accused headed the so-called "M" department in the structure of the occupation special service. In June 2022, he and his armed accomplices broke into a private house of a resident of Kherson, allegedly to search it. The owner was beaten, forcibly taken to the seized building of the former district police department and illegally detained.
The next day, the basement of the building became a place of systematic torture: the man was beaten and tortured with electric shocks, which caused him to lose consciousness several times. Over the next few days, the victim was kept in a cell without water, food and basic sanitary conditions, forced to "confess".
On charges, the defendant faces up to 15 years in prison.
Oleg Sushchenko, an FSB officer, was also suspected of violating the laws and customs of war. According to the investigation, he ordered his subordinates to imitate cutting off the detainee's big toe - the foot was dipped in a bucket of water, and a metal object, presumably a pruner, was applied to the toe. In addition, the victim was forced to stand against a wall, threatened with execution and burying.
And the collaborator from Kakhovka became an active participant in the persecution of pro-Ukrainian residents in the Kherson region. Since 2022, 50-year-old Serhiy Chetvergov has been serving in the occupation police and has been personally involved in the abductions and torture of local residents, openly declaring his intention to cleanse the city of anyone who supports Ukraine.
