The court sentenced the head of a utility company in Mykolaiv region, who helped the Russian military dig trenches and repair equipment during the occupation.
This was reported by IRS-South.
According to the investigation, in September 2022, 45-year-old Serhii Torskyi headed an enterprise created by the occupiers on the basis of the Snihurivskyi Komunalnyk utility company. The company transferred community equipment to the invaders and repaired their military equipment.
According to YouControl, Torskyi has been doing business in Snihurivka since 2007, installing water supply networks, heating and air conditioning systems. He terminated his status as an individual entrepreneur on January 28, 2022.
The man was put on a wanted list and detained in November 2023. During the trial, Torsky asked for a lighter sentence, claiming that the occupiers allegedly forced him to cooperate and threatened him. According to the defendant and his family, he initially refused, but later agreed to work for the invaders.
Witnesses in court refuted these allegations, stating that they were not aware of any pressure or threats from the occupiers. At the same time, they confirmed that Torsky provided equipment for the needs of the occupiers, and that the company's employees were paid a salary of 20 to 30 thousand rubles per month.
The prosecutor and the court agreed to a certain leniency. Torsky was found guilty under Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - collaboration. He was sentenced to two and a half years in prison with confiscation of some of his property, the term of imprisonment will be counted from the date of his arrest.
Among the confiscated property is a boiler house building, while he will be returned to his previously seized apartment. Additionally, Torskyi is banned from holding senior positions in government for ten years after serving his sentence.
In another case, a resident of Mykolaiv region who justified Russian aggression and praised the occupiers was released from prison. His posts contained information about the movement of Ukrainian equipment, facts of hostilities, and insults to Ukrainians.
