The bail for the former mayor of Odesa , Hennadiy Trukhanov, has been paid in full - 42 million hryvnias.
According to the Suspilne media outlet, citing the ex-mayor's lawyer, Oleksandr Lysak, this is a preventive measure in the case of participation in a criminal organization and illegal seizure of local community land.
According to the lawyer, more than 25 people donated money and began paying the required amount immediately after the court ruling, and the balance of UAH 12 million was paid on November 17. He had paid UAH 30 million earlier, but had to pay more after the bail was increased.
In turn, the Dumskaya newspaper reported, citing its sources, that the bail for former mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov was paid by the family of Vitaliy Barvinenko, the head of the district council. The money was allegedly raised by Dmytro Barvinenko, a former deputy of the Odesa Regional Council and current deputy and farmer of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district.
The court increased the bail amount set for the accused from UAH 30 million to UAH 42 million, but denied the request to take him into custody. As previously reported, the pre-trial investigation established that during 2016-2019, members of the criminal organization developed a scheme for the illegal transfer of land plots for their further development.
In September, the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine granted the prosecutor's motion and allowed a special trial of businessman Volodymyr Halanternyk, accused of organizing a corrupt organization in Odesa City Hall.
In December 2024, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office brought to court the case of a criminal organization that caused the Odesa community to lose UAH 689 million. The 11 defendants include the current mayor of Odesa, city council officials, and the head of an enterprise.
The NABU did not name the suspects, but Intent reported that it was Odesa businessman Volodymyr Halanternyk, who is hiding from the investigation abroad. Other defendants include Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov, his former deputies Oleh Bryndak and Petro Ryabokon, former city council member Vasyl Shkryabai, director of the legal department Inna Popovska, and Budova founder Dmytro Dimarsky.
