The SBU detained an FSB agent who was preparing a terrorist attack near the shopping center in Kherson. They tried to blow it up in the dark. Law enforcement officers foiled the attempt of the Russian special services, and the agent is in custody without bail.

This was reported by the SBU Communication Department.

SBU officers detected the offender at the site of the planned terrorist attack when he was near the facility. The unemployed resident of Cherkasy had previously carried out orders for arson attacks on Ukrzaliznytsia facilities, and now he was sent to Kherson to prepare the explosion.

According to the investigation, the agent received a ready-made improvised explosive device and was supposed to leave it near the building of the military administrative center, after which the FSB planned to detonate the explosives remotely, along with him. However, the plan was thwarted by the SBU's timely actions. The agent had a special program on his phone that allowed the Russian secret service to track his whereabouts.

The suspect was charged under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, including attempted terrorist act and sabotage under martial law. The attacker is in custody without the right to be released on bail.

Recently, a student planted explosives near the police building in Mykolaiv. After completing the task and notifying the customers, the enemy tried to activate the explosives by calling a cell phone connected to a homemade device.

In January, the Security Service of Ukraine prevented an attempt by Russian special services to commit a terrorist attack in Odesa region. During the detention, one of the bombs was activated remotely. The perpetrator of the attack was a 21-year-old resident of Kostiantynivka, who was recruited by Russian special services.
