Russian court arrests journalist in absentia in Crimea

In the temporarily occupied Crimea, the Kyiv District Court of Simferopol ruled on the arrest in absentia of Crimean journalist of "Krym Realii" Oleksina Dorohan.
This was reported by Krym.Realii.
The journalist said that she learned about the opening of criminal proceedings on August 11. According to her, she did not receive any notifications before, and letters with an appeal against the arrest in absentia were mailed to her former place of residence in Crimea. The documents were sent by a lawyer appointed by the Russian court. The occupation court imposed a pre-trial restraint on Dorogan in the form of detention for two months. In its decision, the court noted that the journalist could hide from the investigation due to the "high public danger of the incriminated crime", which carries a sentence of up to 20 years in prison, and found no grounds for a more lenient measure of restraint.
Oleksina Dorogan worked for leading Crimean TV channels and was a correspondent for central Ukrainian TV channels in Crimea. Since 2015, she has been cooperating with Krym Realii and is the author of the GRUZ-200 database project, which contains the identified data of Crimeans who fought in the Russian army and died as a result of Russia's war against Ukraine.
Crimean Tatar journalist Remzi Bekirov has died in a Russian prison in Khakassia. According to the prisoner's wife Khalide, Bekirov lost thirty kilograms due to poor nutrition in the colony. Detainees there are not allowed to lie down during the day and are forced to stand, which worsens the condition of Bekirov's veins - he still suffers from varicose veins.
