A Mykolaiv court has imposed a pre-trial restraint on a 43-year-old serviceman suspected of throwing a grenade into the territory of one of the territorial recruitment and social support centers in Voznesensk district.

According to the press service of the Central Court in Mykolaiv, the decision was made by investigating judge Ivan Dirko. The suspect was taken into custody without the possibility of bail.

The incident occurred in late February 2025. According to the investigation, the serviceman, who had previously left his unit without permission, was intoxicated and had a negative attitude towards the activities of the TCC and JV. In this state, he threw an F-1 hand grenade onto the territory of the center, which damaged two service vehicles, rendering them unusable.

During the court hearing, the suspect confirmed his involvement in the incident, explaining that he was acting under the influence of alcohol after a quarrel with his wife. He also said that he had found the grenade among his belongings in his backpack.

The judge, having heard the arguments of the parties and examined the case file, concluded that the suspicion was reasonable and that there were risks that justified detention. Therefore, the court decided to take the suspect into custody without the right to be released on bail.

Meanwhile, another Mykolaiv soldier was sentenced for illegal possession of a combat grenade. The court took into account his service and changed the sentence.

In January, during large-scale operations in the Mykolaiv region, police found and seized hundreds of weapons, ammunition, and explosives. More than 50 searches resulted in the discovery of over 700 rounds of ammunition, 18 grenades, automatic weapons, a rocket launcher for a grenade launcher, and about 7 kilograms of explosives.
