In the Carpathian Mountains, border guards detained two Mykolaiv residents who were trying to escape to Romania under the guise of tourists. One of the men was running away, so border guards had to make several warning shots.

This was reported by the communication department of the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service.

In the Chernivtsi region, border guards detained two men who were trying to illegally cross the Ukrainian-Romanian border. They were found thanks to the concern of a local resident.

According to the State Border Guard Service, the man reported to the border guards that he had seen two strangers behaving suspiciously and walking along a mountain path toward the state border.

The search group of the Border Guard Service department "Shybeni" immediately arrived at the scene. The violators were found near the border. One of them tried to escape, so the guards had to make several warning shots to stop the offender.

The detainees were residents of Mykolaiv region. They admitted that they were trying to travel to Romania under the guise of being tourists. However, the men had no documents confirming the legitimate purpose of the trip.

The violators were taken to the border guard unit to draw up administrative materials. Reports under Articles 204-1 (illegal crossing or attempt to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine) and 185 (malicious disobedience to a lawful order or demand of a law enforcement officer) of the Code of Administrative Offenses were drawn up against them.

Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the offense.

In May, law enforcement officers in Odesa region exposed a 45-year-old Odesa resident suspected of organizing the illegal trafficking of men of military age abroad. According to the investigation, he, together with unidentified persons, offered evaders from the region an illegal transfer to the border with Moldova, bypassing official checkpoints.

In particular, the man found two clients from Odesa region, who for $11,000 each promised a route bypassing border guards and detailed instructions for safely crossing the state border on foot.
