Mykolaiv resident suspected of high treason for publicly expressing sympathy for Russia

A 46-year-old resident of Mykolaiv was suspected of high treason and sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property for "leaking" the coordinates of military units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to Russian agents.
The press service of the Central District Court of Mykolaiv reports.
The suspect did this for a material reward, as the investigation found out. The man sent information to persons who introduced themselves as representatives of the Russian Federation, describing and indicating the geographical coordinates of places where, in his opinion, the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are located.
The court also interrogated women whom the defendant met on dating sites and openly told them about his sympathies for the aggressor country. He also introduced himself as an FSB officer and, in case of disagreement, refusal of women's attention, threatened them with reprisals or even a missile strike.
The interrogated man did not admit his guilt.
He stated that his only goal was to meet and communicate with women, and he did tell them that he worked for the special services and could send them coordinates. He considered the persons who positioned themselves as representatives of the Russian Federation to be fraudsters.
The court ruled to find the man guilty of committing a criminal offense under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sentenced him to 15 years' imprisonment with confiscation of property.
