A deputy of the Kherson Regional Council was notified in absentia of being suspected of treason for cooperating with the occupiers, obtaining a Russian passport and financing the Russian army. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

This was reported by the Center for Investigative Journalism with reference to the suspicion of the Prosecutor General's Office.

Danylo Repilevsky, a deputy of the Kherson Regional Council and an agrarian from the Kakhovka district, was served with a suspicion of treason in absentia. According to the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, he cooperated with the occupation authorities, received a Russian passport, transferred farmers' property, and helped the occupiers both financially and politically.

The investigation established that in 2022 Repilevsky illegally obtained Russian citizenship, registered several companies with the Russian tax authorities, paid taxes to the aggressor state and organized the export of agricultural products to Crimea and the aggressor country. Some of the products were stolen from other farmers.

He also forced employees of his company to obtain Russian passports and participate in a referendum on joining the Russian Federation. In addition, the former MP helped the Russian troops by repairing equipment, providing them with food and accommodation in the territory of the Tavrychanska community.

He settled the occupiers in the homes of evacuated residents, including the home of Viktor Naydenov, director of the Askaniyske state enterprise.

According to journalists, former MP Repilevsky played the role of the "public face" of the agribusiness controlled by his father and Albert Babayev, known in the region as "Millionaire". Despite his attempts to distance himself from the family, Danylo came back under the influence of his father, who began to prepare him for a political career.

In 2019, Repilevsky ran for parliament as a member of the Servant of the People party. Now he faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Also, 56-year-old Anatoliy Semenov, director of Genichesk Lyceum No. 4, was found guilty of collaboration. The Kherson City Court sentenced him in absentia to nine years in prison with confiscation of all his property. In addition, the SBU identified ten former police officers from Kherson region who joined the illegal battalion of the so-called local Ministry of Internal Affairs during the occupation.
