In Kherson, a court changed the charges against a school principal who taught children according to Russian standards. The charge of high treason was changed to aiding the aggressor state and he was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

This is stated in the verdict of the Kherson City Court.

According to the case file, a native of the village of Sovetske, Bilozersky district, Kherson region, agreed to head the so-called School No. 1, created by the Russian administration during the temporary occupation of Kherson.

He fully managed the educational institution according to the standards of the Russian Federation: he organized the educational process, signed documents, concluded contracts, was responsible for finances, property and staff.

After the de-occupation, Russian textbooks and documents with his signatures were found in the school premises. Witnesses in court confirmed that he performed all the functions of the director of the fake school under the jurisdiction of the aggressor state.

Initially, he was charged with high treason, but later the case was reclassified under Art. 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - aiding the aggressor state. The court noted that the accused acted voluntarily, without coercion, and contributed to the functioning of the occupation system.

The defendant was sentenced in absentia to 12 years in prison with an additional ban on holding any leadership positions in education and government for 15 years.

In addition, he has to compensate the state for the costs of forensic examination - more than 8.6 thousand hryvnias.

By the way, a lyceum director from Kherson region was recently sentenced to 12 years in prison for collaborating with the occupiers. She was agitating children to join the "Yunarmiya" and promised teachers bonuses.
