The Kherson Oncology Center plans to renovate the premises for the installation of a magnetic resonance imaging scanner. More than UAH 45 million is to be raised for the project.

This was reported by the Center for Public Investigations with reference to the DREAM digital recovery ecosystem.

The Kherson Regional Oncology Center is launching an infrastructure project to overhaul part of the radiology building to install a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner. The work will take place on the first floor of the building.

The goal of the project is to create a modern, safe, and fully equipped room that meets all technical and sanitary standards for the installation of an MRI machine. This will reduce the need to refer patients to other regions and help detect cancer at early stages.

The project envisages a full range of construction, repair and maintenance works:

  • dismantling of old partitions and utilities; installation of new partitions, arrangement of the MRI area, control room, and waiting room; installation of moisture-resistant finishing materials;
  • creating electromagnetic protection of the premises; updating power grids with backup power supply; installation of ventilation, air conditioning, heating, water supply and sewerage;
  • installation of a fire alarm system and IT infrastructure (video surveillance, medical systems, Internet).

The total cost of the project is UAH 45.5 million, all of which will be used for capital expenditures. The project currently has approved design and estimate documentation and requires full funding. According to Prozorro, UAH 359,400 was allocated for architectural, engineering, and planning services back in 2020.

The project is being implemented as part of the overall program for the restoration of the Kherson region. The initiator is the Kherson Regional Cancer Center of the Kherson Regional Council with the support of the Capital Construction Department of the Kherson City Council.

In addition, Kherson plans to build an underground hospital for children, which will require more than UAH 55 million. The Kherson City Children's Hospital remains one of the main medical institutions for children in the city and region, providing a wide range of services in such departments as gastroenterology, hematology, neurology, infectious diseases, traumatology, surgery, and others.

It is also planned to rebuild the local hospital in the village of Velyka Oleksandrivka in Kherson Oblast. The cost of the project is UAH 120.7 million. It is planned to reconstruct the external and internal structures of the building, replace utilities, roofs, windows and doors, insulate the facade, and modernize the heating system.
