In Odesa, a courier was sentenced to prison for burning military vehicles

The Kyiv District Court of Odesa found a local resident guilty of obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and destroying other people's property by arson.
The court sentenced him to 5 years in prison, according to the Court Reporter publication.
In June 2024, the accused agreed to an acquaintance's proposal to set fire to the vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for money.
The man worked as a courier and, while driving around the city, saw cars with visual signs of belonging to the military. Having agreed on the target with the curator on Telegram, the men carried out their plan. They agreed on who would burn the car and who would shoot the video.
In July 2024, the attackers set four cars on fire. Three of these cars are no longer repairable.
At the court hearing, the accused confirmed that in the summer of 2024, he communicated on Telegram with a person who offered to set fire to the vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and promised 1,500 dollars for each car. He agreed to the offer because he believed it was easy money and the cars belonged to the RCCC, which belonged to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, to which he had a very negative attitude.
The man said that he received $500 for the first car, then 50 thousand hryvnias. The last time, when he and his friend set two cars on fire at the same time, he was paid $1,750 dollars. The defendant sincerely repented of his actions, explaining that he wanted to earn money for his own needs. He asked not to be deprived of his liberty.
His accomplice was found guilty of the same crimes by the Kyiv District Court of Odesa in May. The man made a deal with the prosecutor and pleaded guilty.
Earlier in Odesa, a man who tried to commit sabotage on the railroad was convicted. The court sentenced him to 7 years in prison with confiscation of property.
