Law enforcement officers in Odesa region detained a former head of the school's facilities in Balta, Podil district, on suspicion of embezzling 1,400 liters of fuel.

According to the press service of the Main Department of the National Police in Odesa Oblast.

The director of one of the educational institutions of the Balta community applied to law enforcement agencies to check the activities of her subordinate, who held the position of head of the farm. The official reported that an inventory of the property for which the official was responsible revealed a shortage of more than UAH 60 thousand.

As part of the criminal proceedings, investigators conducted a forensic economic examination, which revealed violations of accounting and expenditure of material assets. Investigators found that the 50-year-old man systematically used part of the gasoline and diesel fuel coupons received for the needs of the lyceum for his own purposes. In total, the offender misappropriated almost 1.4 thousand liters of fuel, causing material damage to the educational institution in the amount of over UAH 61 thousand.

Based on the evidence collected, the offender was charged under Part 4 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely, misappropriation of property entrusted to a person by abuse of office committed under martial law. Under current legislation, such actions are punishable by imprisonment for up to eight years with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years.

The indictment has already been sent to court.

In May, the director of a construction company in Odesa region was brought to court for misappropriating budget funds allocated for school repairs. The amount in question was 240 thousand hryvnias.
