Case on embezzlement of funds for shelter repair sent to court in Chornomorsk

Prosecutors of the Chornomorsk District Prosecutor's Office in Odesa region have sent an indictment to court against the head of a construction company and a technical supervision engineer.
This was reported by the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office.
The suspects are charged with misappropriation of budget funds, forgery and negligence. The investigation found that the Department of Urban Development, Land Management and Communal Property of the Bilyayivka City Council and a contractor signed a contract for the overhaul of the basement, the simplest shelter of the Myrnyansky House of Culture.
The contractor did not perform the work in full and significantly overestimated its cost. As a result, he was unjustifiably transferred more than UAH 246 thousand from the local budget. The technical supervision engineer, negligently fulfilling his duties, failed to check the compliance of the actual work performed with the design and estimate documentation, which led to the illegal transfer of funds.
As part of the criminal proceedings, a civil lawsuit has been filed to compensate the state for the damage caused.
Meanwhile, the Peresypskyi District Court of Odesa found the person responsible for technical supervision of the overhaul of the premises of the consultative and diagnostic department of the polyclinic of the Odesa Regional Clinical Antitumor Center guilty of abuse of office. She simply wrote "I confirm the volumes" on blank A4 sheets of paper, certified them with her own signature and stamp as "Technical Supervision Engineer" and handed them over to a private enterprise. At the court hearing, the convicted person fully pleaded guilty to the charges as presented and set forth in the indictment.
