Bribery case against head of TCC in Odesa region sent to court

Investigators have sent to court the case of the deputy head of the district center for recruitment and social support, who is accused of extortion and receiving a bribe while temporarily acting as head.

According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa Oblast, the accused is accused of extorting $3,000 from a man who was liable for military service and had violated the rules of military registration for removal from the list of wanted persons.

According to the investigation, the businessman sent his subordinate to collect the money, which was transferred in installments. After transferring a part of the bribe in the amount of 2.5 thousand dollars to the suspect and fulfilling his promise, the police detained him. At the request of investigators, the suspect was removed from his position. For the duration of the investigation, the court imposed on him a preventive measure in the form of detention with the right to be released on bail in the amount of over UAH 1.2 million. He is still in custody.

He is currently accused of obtaining an undue advantage by an official in a responsible position, as well as a request to provide such an advantage for himself for the performance by such an official in the interests of a third party of any action using the power and official position granted to him.

If found guilty, the military officer faces imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years, with confiscation of property.

Earlier, the Prymorskyi District Court of Odesa found an employee of the Municipal Guard municipal institution of the Fontanska village council of Odesa district guilty of two years in prison for abuse of influence.
