The Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court upheld the sentence of Serhiy Hlivinsky, a former investigator of one of the departments of the Security Service of Ukraine in Odesa region, convicted of receiving $80,000 in bribes.

This was reported by the press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.

Thus, the judges found Serhiy Hlivinsky guilty of taking a bribe in a particularly large amount.

The court sentenced him to 9 years of imprisonment with disqualification to hold positions in the Security Service of Ukraine and law enforcement agencies for three years, with confiscation of all his property. The court ruled to take the convict into custody in the courtroom. The law enforcement officer was exposed and detained in August 2021.

In March 2024, he was found guilty of extorting and receiving a bribe of $80,000 for easing the preventive measure and lifting the seizure of a foreigner's property and bank accounts. At the same time, he was stripped of his special rank of senior lieutenant of justice.

Meanwhile, the Prymorskyi District Court of Odesa announced a verdict against Oleksii Kurtzev, former acting director of the Tourist Information Center of Odesa, finding him guilty of bribery. The official demanded money for assistance in renting a municipal building.

During the trial, Kurtzev pleaded guilty, repented and confirmed all the circumstances set out in the case. The court took into account that the man had no previous convictions, is raising a young daughter, and his wife is undergoing treatment for cancer. In view of this, the court decided not to impose an actual imprisonment and imposed a fine of UAH 68 thousand with a ban on holding senior positions in government for three years.
