Mykolaiv to Modernize Traction Substation with ₴64M Upgrade for Electric Transport

A traction substation in Mykolaiv is to be modernized to improve the reliability and efficiency of electric transport. The project involves the installation of modern equipment worth UAH 64 million.
This was reported by the Center for Public Investigations with reference to the DREAM ecosystem.
It is planned to optimize the transport infrastructure by replacing traction substation No. 8 with a modern two-unit integrated modular system. This is intended to improve the quality and reliability of electric transport.

The main task is to create an efficient and safe infrastructure for the stable operation of tram and trolleybus routes. It is planned to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the networks of Mykolaivelectrotrans, optimize energy consumption, introduce the latest technologies to improve energy efficiency, and minimize environmental impact.
The substation will be equipped with working and emergency lighting systems, ventilation with microclimate control, natural cooling through blinds, and air conditioning to maintain optimal temperature.
The project budget is UAH 64.6 million. These funds are provided for the purchase and installation of the necessary equipment. The project is initiated by the city council and implemented by Mykolaivelectrotrans in accordance with the decision of the executive committee.

According to the project description, the upgrade of the substation will make urban electric transport more stable, safe, and energy efficient. The project is currently in preparation and requires funding.
Earlier, it was also planned to purchase a two-unit complex modular traction substation No. 13. The project aims to improve safety, efficient use of electricity, reduce costs, and improve passenger comfort. UAH 64.5 million is to be raised for this purpose.
In addition, Mykolaiv plans to modernize its transport infrastructure, including upgrading its tram fleet. It is planned to raise UAH 1 billion 560 million to purchase 31 tramcars. The project aims to improve the quality of passenger transportation, increase comfort and safety for residents, and develop modern urban infrastructure.
