The High Anti-Corruption Court has remanded Prosecutor Serhiy Kropiva and two other defendants in the “Carthage” case in custody. However, the judges reduced the bail amounts for all three, allowing them to be released on bail.

According to the Anti-Corruption Action Center, the court partially granted the motion filed by the prosecutor from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office and extended Kropiva’s detention for another two months.

His alternative bail was reduced from 120 million to 93 million hryvnias.

The other two defendants in the case— Yelizaveta “Musa” Ivakhnenko and attorney Oleksandr Didych, who is a relative of Kropiva—also remain in custody. The court set new bail amounts for them:

  • 15 million hryvnias for Ivakhnenko;
  • for Didych —11.6 million hryvnias.

The Center for Civil Rights also noted that Kropiva has not yet been dismissed from the prosecutor’s office. According to the organization, information regarding the disciplinary proceedings against him has not been made public.

As previously reported by Intent, according to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO), Serhiy Kropiva organized and directly led a criminal organization. Its members provided “protection” for a network of illegal call centers.

In addition to directly protecting the fraudulent business, the group, together with Yelizaveta Ivakhnenko and Oleksandr Didych, was involved in laundering the proceeds.

Ivan Tymoshenko, the former head of the Digital Development Department at the Odesa Regional State Administration, may also be involved in the “Carthage” case. As the Center for Public Investigations previously uncovered, he may have had ties to online gambling. According to journalists, this is evidenced by a recording of a conversation in which a person—whose voice investigators link to Tymoshenko—refers to gambling as the field of activity of the people in the conversation.
