The former head of the Mykolaiv Regional Traffic Control Center and Special Forces, who is suspected of accepting a bribe, was released from pretrial detention on bail. The court extended the procedural obligations imposed on him.

This was reported by the Mykolaiv Central District Court.

In August 2026, the court imposed a pretrial detention order on the former official, setting bail at 4,659,000 hryvnias. The Court of Appeals reduced the bail amount to 2,329,000 hryvnias. The bail was subsequently paid, after which the suspect was released from pretrial detention.

According to the court, the prosecutor requested that the restrictions imposed on the suspect be extended. Specifically, he was prohibited from leaving the Mykolaiv region without permission from the investigator, prosecutor, or court.

The former official must also appear before the investigator, prosecutor, or court upon first request, report any change of residence or employment, refrain from communicating with witnesses in the case, and surrender his passport for safekeeping.

The defense requested that the suspect be allowed to move freely within the region, but the court upheld the ban on leaving the Mykolaiv region without proper authorization.

The prosecutor also requested that the man be removed from his position as head of the Mykolaiv Regional Tax and Customs Committee and Special Operations Unit. However, the court denied this motion, as the suspect had already been dismissed from his position at the end of August 2026.

As previously reported by Intent, on August 13, law enforcement officers detained the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Registration and Enlistment Office. He was caught accepting a $10,000 bribe in exchange for helping someone evade mobilization.

This was already the second incident within the criminal proceedings. Earlier, law enforcement officers had documented the head of the regional TCC and SP receiving an additional $5,000.
