The family of a Kherson City Council member has accumulated $315,000 in cash

Anton Khmaro, a member of the Kherson City Council, filed a financial disclosure statement after resigning from his position. In the statement, he and his wife listed seven properties, two cars, and hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The Center for Public Investigations learned what the elected official’s declaration revealed.
According to the document, the former council member listed Kherson as his registered place of residence, though he actually lived in Odesa. The declarant’s family includes his wife, Natalia Petrenko.
Khmara declared an apartment in Nikopol with an area of 41.4 square meters, purchased in 2020 for 203,800 hryvnias. His wife owns an apartment in Odesa with an area of 140.1 square meters, an office in Kherson with an area of 531.6 square meters, and shares in other commercial properties.
The couple also declared two 2020 Toyota vehicles. The Toyota RAV-4 Hybrid belongs to his wife; its value was 1.14 million hryvnias. Anton Khmaro purchased the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 150 in 2024 for 1.15 million hryvnias.
The declaration also lists the couple’s corporate interests in several companies. The total declared value of the former deputy’s shares is 2.213 million hryvnias, and his wife’s is 4.413 million.
The former lawmaker himself earned over 1.2 million hryvnias in income from business activities. His wife declared over 212,000 hryvnias in business income.
Khmara reported $8,000 in cash. His wife reported $307,000, 38,000 euros, and 650,000 hryvnias.
In addition, the former lawmaker has a loan of 1.88 million hryvnias from Oleg Petrenko. During the reporting period, he repaid 120,000 hryvnias, leaving a remaining debt of 1.76 million hryvnias.
