The chief physician of the Bashtanka District Hospital in Mykolaiv Oblast will stand trial. She is accused of embezzling public funds during the renovation of the medical facility.
According to the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the indictment against the hospital director has already been forwarded to the court.
According to the investigation, while the contract for the hospital’s renovation was being carried out, the official signed documents regarding the alleged purchase of construction materials, the completion of work, and the transfer of materials to the contractor for safekeeping.

However, as the investigation established, the construction materials were not actually purchased. Despite this, the director signed a certificate of completion for the construction work and a statement of their cost and expenses totaling more than 4.6 million hryvnias.
Based on these documents, budget funds were unjustifiably transferred to the contractor.

The woman is charged with embezzlement on an especially large scale and official forgery. If found guilty, she faces 7 to 12 years in prison, along with confiscation of property and a ban on holding certain positions for up to three years.
The case against the contractor regarding the misappropriation of funds is already pending in the Bashtanka District Court. The contractor himself is in hiding abroad and has been placed on an international wanted list.
Meanwhile, in Odesa, police are investigating the embezzlement of budget funds during the procurement of surgical equipment.
As part of the investigation, investigators gained access to bank documents regarding the purchase of laparoscopic equipment for the “Odesa Regional Special Medical Supply Base.” Law enforcement officials examined the procurement process and the flow of funds paid for the equipment.
