The prosecutor of the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) filed a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) to recognize as unjustified an asset used by a senior inspector of the customs clearance department of the Pivdennyi Port customs post of the Odesa Customs.
This was reported by the press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
The basis for the lawsuit was the results of monitoring of the official's lifestyle by the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC), as well as evidence independently obtained by the SAPO prosecutor.
During the monitoring, the NACP found that in 2023, the customs officer purchased a Volkswagen Touareg for more than UAH 2.7 million. He registered the vehicle in his father's name, but continued to use it.
The agency analyzed the income and expenses of the official and his family members and concluded that it was impossible to purchase the vehicle at the expense of legitimate income. The car was seized. The assets may be recovered in favor of the state.
In October 2024, the State Bureau of Investigation and the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption found unjustified assets worth almost UAH 3 million in the family of the head of one of the departments of the Strategic Investigations Department in Odesa region of the National Police of Ukraine. The SBI forwarded the materials on the identified signs of unjustified assets to the SAPO, and the SAPO prosecutor has already filed a claim with the HACC for more than UAH 2.8 million.
In June, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption published a list of 10 declarations in which violations were found during a full review, and the list included the declaration of a deputy of the Odesa Regional Council for 2023, which was found to be inaccurate.
