Director of a catering company sent to jail in Mykolaiv

The Central District Court of Mykolaiv has taken into custody the director of Prosecco 8 LLC Irina Stoyeva with an alternative to bail. She is suspected of violating sanitary standards and attempting to seize someone else's property.

According to the district prosecutor's office, Stoyeva is suspected of violating the rules and regulations for the prevention of infectious diseases (Part 1 of Article 325 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), as well as of an unfinished attempt to seize another's property. Under the totality of the charged articles, she could face up to 12 years in prison.
The prosecutor's office insisted on detention, pointing to the risks of the suspect hiding, destroying evidence and possible influence on witnesses. According to prosecutor Igor Ivanchenko, a number of examinations need to be conducted in the case and the circle of those involved needs to be established, and milder preventive measures cannot ensure proper procedural behavior.
The defense objected to the arrest, claiming procedural violations during the serving of the suspicion and calling the actions of law enforcement agencies pressure on the business. The lawyer also referred to the presidential decree on a moratorium on government interference in the activities of entrepreneurs and asked for a nightly house arrest.
The prosecutor's office rejected these arguments, emphasizing that it was not an inspection, but a criminal proceeding registered on December 8, 2025. The prosecutor also noted that under martial law, nighttime house arrest is not actually an effective preventive measure.
The court, having heard the parties and examined the case file, granted the prosecution's request in full. Iryna Stoyeva was taken into custody until February 20 with the right to be released on bail in the amount of UAH 242,240.
Earlier, journalists found out that the Mykolaiv-based company, which became involved in the scandal due to disruptions in the supply of school meals and non-compliance with sanitary requirements, may be connected to local officials. According to the investigation, the formal owner of the company used to work in catering establishments that were related to the family of the head of the Ingul district administration and city council member Hanna Remennikova.
