Odesa Official Volodymyr Barnasevych Sentenced to 5 Years for Abuse of Power

The High Anti-Corruption Court has approved a plea agreement concluded between the prosecutor and Volodymyr Barnasevych, former head of the Tsebrykivka village council in Odesa region.

According to the court ruling, he pleaded guilty to abuse of power and conspiracy with other participants in the crime.

The official was sentenced to imprisonment for five years with the deprivation of the right to hold positions related to organizational, administrative or administrative and economic functions for three years and a fine of 1,000 tax-free minimum incomes - 17,000 hryvnias.

However, he was released from serving a sentence of imprisonment with probation and placed on probation for two years and six months.

On November 3, 2023, law enforcement officers notified the current deputy of the Odesa Regional Council, Mykola Derevianko, of suspicion of organizing abuse of office and forgery, which caused UAH 6 million in losses to the budget.

At that time, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau detectives informed the director of the company controlled by the deputy and, on behalf of the head of the SAPO, the former village head of one of the territorial communities of Odesa region, of the change in the previously reported suspicions.

In particular, Volodymyr Herasymchuk, director of Ukrmezhbud LLC, Volodymyr Barnasevych, former head of the Tsebrykivka village council, and Mykola Derevianko, a member of the Odesa Regional Council from the European Solidarity faction, were suspected in the case.

In October of the same year, MP Oleksiy Honcharenko reported on the detention of one of the deputies of the Odesa Regional Council and his wife, according to the politician, the detention was connected with the fact that the woman is a distant relative of his.

It was a deputy from the European Solidarity party, Mykola Derevyanko, and his wife, Lesya Derevyanko.
