The Kherson City Court has resumed consideration of the criminal case against city council member and former director of the Department of Finance Roman Pidperyhora after a four-year break.
This became known from the register of court decisions, Hryvnia reported.
Pidperyhora is accused of trying to bribe the leadership of the National Police's regional Economic Protection Department.
The proceedings were opened in July 2017, when the MP was detained while transferring an illegal benefit. According to the investigation, he offered to pay $1,000 a month for "peace of mind" for entrepreneurs associated with him.
The MP did not appear at the preparatory hearing in February this year and did not explain the reasons for his absence. As a result, the court decided to bring him in forcibly. The next hearing was scheduled for May 26, by which time law enforcement officers should find the accused. Meanwhile, his whereabouts are currently unknown.
Roman Pidperyhora headed the Department of Finance of the Kherson City Council until July 2022, and in 2020 was elected as a city councilor from the Volodymyr Saldo Bloc party. The acting mayor of Kherson, Halyna Luhova, previously accused him of collaborating with the Russians during the occupation of the city. The case is being investigated under Part 3 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - "Offer, promise or giving of an unlawful benefit to an official".
Recently, Roman Mrochko, the head of the Kherson MVA, prematurely terminated the powers of a member of the city council. It is about Olga Spivakina, who was an assistant to the collaborator Saldo. Spivakina herself said that she did not write a letter of resignation and believes that Roman Mrochko exceeded his authority.
Earlier, a deputy of the Kherson City Council, Olena Matviyets, was deprived of her deputy powers by the order of the head of the Kherson MVA, Roman Mrochko.
Meanwhile, Natalia Chekhuta, the first deputy head of the Kherson MVA, bought a private house in Vinnytsia region. On February 2, 2025, Chekhuta declared an 82.3 m² residential building in the village of Yakushyntsi, Vinnytsia region.
