House for 300 thousand dollars: the former head of Kherson MBA told about his parents' real estate

After the publications about the half-million-dollar house near Kyiv, Roman Mrochko decided to voice his version. He assures us that everything is legal and that he had nothing to do with the purchase of the property.
Following a request from a journalist from the Anti-Corruption Dimension, Mrochko publicly commented on the circumstances of the purchase.
At the end of June, a number of media outlets published materials that the parents of the former head of the Kherson MBA had purchased a house in the village of Petropavlivska Borshchahivka near Kyiv worth about $500,000.
The real estate was registered about a month after Mrochko resigned from his position. The publications noted that the family could hardly have bought such a house with their official income, and the house itself, according to the journalists, actually belonged to Mrochko himself, although it was registered in the names of his parents and another person, Iryna Hryhorenko.
After the news was published, the former official provided a video commentary, emphasizing that the journalists who disseminated this information did not ask him for his position. According to him, his parents had lived in Sofiyivska Borshchahivka for more than a decade.

When the construction of a gas piston plant began nearby, they decided to sell the house. The property, which officially belonged to his sister Iryna Hryhorenko, was sold for $270,000 to a company that transferred the money to his parents' bank accounts. According to the former official, all taxes on the transaction were paid.
"I have nothing to do with this purchase. All property owned by me or my wife is reflected in the declarations. I am ready to provide journalists with all documents - contracts, money transfers, proof of tax payment - upon request," Mrochko said.
His sister, who now lives in the United States, provided his parents with notarized powers of attorney for the sale of the property. According to the contract, the family had to vacate the old house by September 1, and it was during this period that the parents purchased a new home in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka, not far from their previous residence. According to Mrochko, the new house cost $300,000, the deal was formalized, and the parents and sister became the owners.
In April, the President of Ukraine dismissed Roman Mrochko from the post of head of the Kherson City Military Administration, which he had headed since March 2023. Prior to that, Mrochko had many years of experience in the military prosecutor's office and the Armed Forces. In August 2022, he voluntarily joined the Armed Forces, and in February of the same year, after the start of the full-scale invasion, he headed the internal investigation team at the Vinnytsia Zonal Department of the Military Law Enforcement Service.
As for the former official's income for the past year, he does not have his own car, and his wife purchased a 2018 LEXUS RX 450H crossover worth UAH 1.4 million in 2021. In 2024, he declared 466,120 hryvnias of income from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and another 681,962 hryvnias from his military unit.
In cash, Mrochko declared 111 thousand US dollars and 35 thousand hryvnias, while his wife declared 184 thousand dollars, 300 thousand hryvnias, and 24 thousand euros. In addition, she has another 13,950 euros and 15,050 US dollars on her accounts at PrivatBank and Universal Bank.
