The former acting head of the Military Academy in Odesa was served a notice of suspicion of abuse of office.
This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office.
According to the investigation, the suspect, the deputy head of the Military Academy, temporarily acting as a leader, acting intentionally and in the interests of another person, ensured the illegal accrual of cash payments to a subordinate serviceman who had been out of service for a long time.
Despite reliable information about the actual absence of the serviceman, who left the state border of Ukraine in April 2022 and did not return, the suspect ordered his subordinates to enter him in their time sheets on a monthly basis and to make all types of financial support - bonuses, allowances and additional remuneration.
To conceal the illegal actions, the official dismissed the serviceman from his previous position and appointed him to another, while continuing to ensure the accrual of funds.
As a result of these actions, for the period from April 2022 to July 2024, the serviceman was unjustifiably charged more than UAH 1.1 million, causing damage to the state.
The court imposed on him a preventive measure in the form of a personal commitment.
In September, the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine found former mayor Valeriy Khmilnyuk not guilty of the abuse of power he was charged with. The court also found not guilty the former First Deputy Head of the State Water Agency, who was accused of abuse of power and forgery. And a former official of the State Water Agency, who was accused of the same.
