Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation have completed an investigation into the criminal proceedings against the former head of the Odesa Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support, Yevhen Borysov , for forgery of documents.
According to the SBI, the indictment against Borisov has been sent to court.
"The investigation found that in early December 2022, the military officer was discharged from a military hospital, but did not report for military service for more than two weeks without good reason. The investigation revealed that he had forged a medical document to travel outside Ukraine," the agency reminded.
Prior to that, SBI employees completed the investigation and handed over an indictment against the former head of the Odesa Regional TCC and JV Yevhen Borysov, who traveled to the resorts of the Seychelles and Spain instead of serving. The investigation found that from December 2 to 16, 2022, Borysov did not report for duty, and then submitted an extract from his medical record as a reason for this, which stated that he had been treated in a medical facility for two weeks.
The case of Borysov
Last year, journalists conducted an investigation and found out that the family of the head of the Odesa Regional TCC and JV had purchased real estate and cars worth millions of dollars on the Spanish coast. And this was during Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
At first, Borisov himself said that he was "not aware" of the family's property in Spain, and then that his wife was engaged in retail trade there and he did not "get involved" in these matters.
On July 22, 2023, the former Odesa military commissar was notified of suspicion on three charges: illicit enrichment, unauthorized leaving the place of service, and evasion from service. These sanctions provide for up to 10 years in prison in case of conviction.
On July 24, 2023, the SBI detained the former military commissar for the first time. Initially, the court imposed a preventive measure in the form of detention with the possibility of bail in the amount of UAH 150 million, but the courts gradually reduced the bail amount to UAH 12 million.
In December 2023, based on the Prosecutor General's Office's request for international legal assistance, the property of the Odesa military commissariat in Spain was seized: a villa and an office building. The court also seized 9 land plots, two houses, one household, two apartments and 1/3 of an apartment, and 6 luxury cars.
