The HACCU has begun consideration of the case on the confiscation of a Mercedes-Benz car. The car worth more than UAH 5 million belongs to the mother of Odesa Customs official Andriy Morar, who does not even have a driver's license.
This decision was made by the High Anti-Corruption Court, according to Slovo i Dilo.
"To close the preparatory proceedings. To schedule the case for trial on the merits on September 16, 2024 at 11:40 a.m. in the High Anti-Corruption Court. The trial on the merits shall be held in an open court session," the statement reads.
The prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor' s Office filed the lawsuit because Moraru himself uses the car, and his mother, who is the official owner, does not have a driver's license. In addition, it was found that neither Moraru nor his mother had sufficient funds to purchase the car worth UAH 5.64 million.
In November 2023, the SAPO prosecutor, based on the National Agency's materials and evidence collected by the NABU and the SAPO, filed a lawsuit to declare the assets of the former deputy head of a department at one of the customs posts of the Odesa Customs of the State Customs Service unjustified and to recover their value of UAH 2.83 million from him.
