He demanded 17 thousand dollars: anti-corruption activist was caught on a bribe near Odesa

An anti-corruption commissioner of one of the state enterprises of Odesa region was detained in Dobroslav. He and his accomplice were extorting a bribe from a man liable for military service.
This was reported by the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office.
According to the investigation, the anti-corruption activist and his accomplice offered the man liable for military service to "resolve the issue" of exemption from service in the Armed Forces. For their "services," they asked for $17,000, with $7,000 received as the first tranche.

In return for this money, the criminals promised to issue fictitious documentation through their doctors' acquaintances, which would lead to a decision by the MSEC to declare the soldier unfit for service and grant him the status of a person with a second-group disability.
For several months, the offenders communicated with the serviceman, demanding a bribe and threatening to violate his rights in case of refusal.

The anti-corruption activist and his accomplice were detained red-handed while receiving the money.
They are suspected under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for punishment for receiving an undue benefit for influencing the decisions of persons performing public functions.
Recently, SBU and police officers detained the head of a village council in Odesa region on suspicion of extortion and bribery. In exchange for UAH 50,000, the official promised not to initiate court proceedings to collect rent arrears for the use of the land plot on which the company's facilities are located.
Meanwhile, in Poland, officers of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau detained three teachers from Odesa in the premises of the former Collegium Humanum University. They were trying to pass a $40,000 bribe for issuing diplomas to 60 people.
