Based on the SBI investigation, the court confiscated an elite Mercedes car worth almost UAH 5.7 million, which was used by the head of the Migration Control Department of the Main Department of the State Migration Service of Ukraine in Odesa Oblast, to the state.
This was reported by the Center for Public Investigations.
It has been established that the official purchased a Mercedes-Benz G400 D worth UAH 5.65 million and registered it in his mother's name in 2023. At the same time, neither his income nor his mother's income allowed him to do so.
On December 11, 2024, a panel of HACCJ judges upheld the SAPO prosecutor's claim to declare the ownership of a car worth UAH 5.6 million unjustified. The court also ruled to recover the car for the state.
Earlier, Intent wrote that the State Bureau of Investigation reported the exposure of an organized group of doctors who helped healthy men of military age to obtain medical documents that allowed the medical and social expert commission to declare them unfit for service.
In the spring of 2024, a doctor at the Odesa Regional Clinical Hospital began providing paid services to men who were trying to avoid mobilization. He involved 12 doctors from different institutions in the city, officials of the Odesa Regional Center for Medical and Social Expertise, and their relatives who acted as intermediaries in his illegal scheme.
According to the investigation, the doctors made up diagnoses for healthy men and produced the necessary medical documentation to confirm their medical history, even taking MRI scans. Subsequently, the conscripts went to the MSEC with a package of ready-made documents, where they were met by trained members of the commission to be assigned a disability group.
It was also reported that SBI officers detained a former law enforcement officer in Odesa who, posing as their colleague, extorted $60,000 from a man. The ex-law enforcement officer involved an accomplice in the extortion and decided to pose as a SBI employee. For a month, he extorted money from the victim, threatened him, psychologically pressured him and even followed his family.
The extortionists posted photos of the victim's family members on social media with provocative captions, sent the victim photos and videos of how they were spying on him and his family. Therefore, the victim decided to give back the money he did not borrow, provided that his family would be left in peace.
On October 11, 2024, the former law enforcement officer and his accomplice were detained while receiving a part of the agreed amount of USD 25 thousand. Currently, the former law enforcement officer and his accomplice have been served a notice of suspicion of extortion (Part 4 of Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
